The Human Biology Program (HMB) is hosting its first 2-week, full-time, intensive laboratory experience for 24 third- and fourth-year undergraduate University of Toronto Life Science students from April 30 to May 11, 2018.
LAB BOOTCAMP will simulate the experience of working on a life science research project in a basic research workplace. Small student teams will be provided with a research question to solve, and be challenged to develop experimental strategies to address the research objective. Under Facilitator guidance, students will work collaboratively to hypothesize, design, execute, analyze, troubleshoot, and problem-solve.
LAB BOOTCAMP will include wet-lab and dry-lab components as well as workshops on research communications, biotechnology, and entrepreneurship. The goal of LAB BOOTCAMP is to provide students with research-based experiential learning that can increase their success in obtaining a research position in academia or industry. A detailed schedule of the bootcamp can be found here.
LAB BOOTCAMP is a free program funded through CRF and ATLAS grants.
Students will be eligible for Co-Curricular Record (CCR) notation.
To apply students must complete the fillable .pdf application (see link below) and submit to Dr. Colleen Dockstader at email@example.com. Application deadline March 28, 2018. Successful applicants will be notified by April 3rd.
